Avignon Christmas market, Starting from 27thNov, 2010 till 2nd Jan, 2011.

As you already know that European Christmas markets are world famous which has been continuing from past 700 years. It is said that according to the religious tradition of Christmas feast it should last for 40 days and finish at Candlemas. The European cities which are very famous for the Christmas market are: London, Frankfurt, Lille, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Bruges, Liege and Avignon. These cities will provide you variety of gifts from confectionery, pottery, local handicraft to jewellery and also taste the local cuisine from these cities.

Avignon is one of the cities which offer lots of entertainment on every street with dual celebration of Christmas, in the heart of town and in the depth of winter you will see the Christmas market having 60 small cottages with all the things used in Christmas. Here you will get: jewelry, candles, lamps, dishes of the country wine, nougat, candied fruit, chocolate, honey, gingerbread, wooden toys  scene, treats, gifts more over you will get to see free entertainment like: shows, concerts and many artists performing. The Christmas Crèche Santon – You will see in every market having one or more vendor of Santons which guarantees to attract children and all ages. The market gives you wide selection for the character you like the best. These are clay figurines created by the famous Santonniers of Provence. All the figures include all the familiar characters from the Christmas story plus one representing traditional country life such as the wool spinner, the harvester, the woodsman and the milkmaid. The whole Santon is adorned in twinkling lights and dazzling decorations.
